Toddlers are amazing little people. Watching your child grow from a baby to a child is simultaneously the scariest and most exciting moment.

Toddlers strive for independence, want to learn and repeat everything every around them and still be surrounded by the love, cuddles and attention of those that care for them.

Here at The Meadows we want to allow children to explore and develop in an environment of support and independence. Children are encouraged to always try new endeavors and our staff is here to support them as they learn and if they fail, we are here to encourage them to keep trying.

Our toddlers get messy, we strive to prove them with as many engaging science and sensory experiments as possible. We will always be mindful of keeping children clean but please only send your child in "play clothes" and not clothes that you would be devastated if they came home dirty in.

For art today since we have been talking about colors, we did paint dobber marker art. We created fantastic splatter art with lots of colors. We talked about colors as we were using them. We also practiced screwing the caps on and off working our fine motor skills.

This morning we did some color mixing in the sensory table. I filled cups up with different colored water, then had the kiddos dump and pour and mix the colors together. At the end when it was all mixed into one, it looked like a dark green color. We started with red, blue, yellow, green, purple and clear water. This was a fun sensory and science activity.

Our art activity this morning was creating a color collage! First we strengthened our fine motor muscles by squeezing glue on our paper with glue bottles. Then we grabbed different colored paper squares and stuck them to the glue. We talked about the colors of our paper as we stuck them on, as well as what our favorite colors were and what color we would use next.

Leaf cutouts were given to the children to decorate with fall colored paper. For a new tactile experience the children were able to squeeze their own glue and apply the colored paper where they wanted.
